White Willow Bark contains the compound Salicin, giving this herb a natural anti-inflammatory and analgesic property. Salicin is metabolised into salycilic acid, the primary ingredient in modern aspirin (chemical ingredient acetylsalycilic acid). Known as "nature's aspirin," it is important to note that White Willow Bark contains a much lower concentration of salicin than can be found in the chemical ingredient used in commercial aspirin products, but being a natural form it is much more potent. 
 
When made into a tincture, White Willow Bark offers a similar pain reliving effect as commercial aspirin, without all of the chemical additives and colorings. This tincture can be used orally to ease symptoms such as headache, migraine, muscle cramps and strains, generalized pain, inflammation, and fever. Many people also use a White Willow Bark tincture daily for it's metabolic support and inflammation reducing properties, much like a daily aspirin regimen.
 
 
As with most herbal tinctures, there are few contraindications for use. Consult with your doctor or preferred medical professional before use. Use caution while pregnant and breastfeeding.
 
Dosage is very dependent on bioindividual desires and results. Tinctures should never be taken sublingually unless you need emergency immediate relief. The tissues under the tongue and in the mouth are very fragile. Continued direct exposure to alcohol based products can damage these tissues. Always dilute tinctures in warm water before consuming. Drop desired amount into a small cup of warm water, and allow to sit for 5-15 minutes before consuming. Take 1-5 times daily to relieve symptoms.
 
Alcohol based tinctures have an infinate shelf life when stored properly. Be sure to keep the lid screwed tight to prevent evaporation, and store in a dark location. You may also store in the refrigerator if desired, but refrigeration is not required.
